Synergy WorldWide is excited to welcome Clell M. Fowles to the company’s Medical Advisory Board. 

Clell is currently manager of Health Sciences at Nature’s Sunshine Products. Clell earned a B.A. degree in history and sociology from Utah State University, then entered the University of Utah School of Pharmacy and graduated with a B.S. degree in pharmacy and medicinal chemistry.

Before entering the field of natural products, Clell worked in all facets of pharmacy including nuclear pharmacy, home health pharmacy, retail pharmacy and hospital pharmacy. He has managed several retail pharmacies and worked as a coordinator of intravenous services, total parental nutrition (TPN), and inpatient study medication. He was also a member of the Institutional Review Board for LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.

With much clinical expertise in nutritional supplementation, clinical investigation and research, Clell joined Nature’s Sunshine Products in 1997. His background gives him a unique perspective on nutritional supplements and the proper role of herbs and natural products in health.

Since joining NSP in 1997, Clell has been extensively involved in natural product research, new products research and development and educational endeavors, including writing. Some of his first research was published in The Green Book, which contains monographs on various herbs and supplements.

Clell has also published a book titled Drugs and Natural Alternatives, which explores the ways in which natural alternatives might be employed to aid the most common ailments for which medications are prescribed. The book is also an excellent resource on the uses, impacts and side effects of medications. Another book, Drugs and Nutrient Depletion, as published in 2003 and explores the hidden side effects associated with the depletion of nutrients through prescription drug use. His experience leads him to advocate a stronger role for natural products in our healing philosophy.
